President Barack Obama's First Year in Office

Alain L. Sanders, lecturer of political science at Saint Peter's College, shares his thoughts on the first year of President Barack Obama's administration. Mr. Sanders provides some historical context for the administration, and suggests President Obama's role is that of facilitator-in-chief, rather than director-in-chief. Mr. Sanders was a senior reporter for TIME Magazine and a journalist for over twenty years before joining the faculty at the College. He continues to publish articles addressing political issues and provide expert topical analysis for media outlets. Read his brief analysis of President Obama's White House in preparation for Obama's State of the Union speech on Wednesday, January 27. Many networks, including CNN, Fox, NBC, and CBS, will be broadcasting the speech live at 9:00 p.m.
